Peaks & Paws — Board Book

Mountains are full of animals, if you know how to look.

Peaks & Paws is a Canadian Rockies–inspired board book written and illustrated by Mountain River Life co-founder Erik Paul. Designed specifically for babies and toddlers, it follows a gentle climb from valley to peak, introducing the animals families might actually encounter while exploring the mountains.

The rhythm and rhyming structure are intentional — smooth enough to feel natural when read aloud, engaging enough that children want to hear it again. The length is thoughtfully balanced: long enough to feel like a real story, short enough that it’s easy to read one more time at bedtime.

Bright, vibrant illustrations help young readers recognize wildlife such as moose, grizzly bears, wolves, and bighorn sheep — animals they may one day spot for themselves.
